March 18

18th March 2025 – 3.30pm GMT / 8.30am PDT / 11.30am EDT
SOVT (Semi-Occluded Vocal Tract) exercises originated in voice therapy and rehabilitation but have been embraced by vocal performers, as a way to train and protect the voice. However, SOVT is an umbrella term for a range of techniques and is often misused-not least by those attempting to use smoke, mirrors…and straws to peddle expensive, unnecessary products and “exclusive” techniques.
Karen Esposito, who has over 20 years as a Clinical Specialist Speech & Language Therapist, Advanced Vocal Performance Coach, Voice Actor and Classically trained Singer, will take us back to basics and give a definitive guide on the history, theory, research and applications of SOVT. She’ll give a step by step guide on how it can be used to help VOs protect and future proof their voices, and improve their vocal technique and awareness.
